Dear Mr. and Mrs. Kern,
This is the final report with regard to the $25,000 grant awarded in April 2010 for library installation at the Lehigh Gapy Nature Center’s education building. As you saw on opening day, the library is finished and is already being used. The breakdown of the expenditures include approximately $23,000 to J.P. Jay for design, furnishings, and installation. The remainder of the funding was used to install a “green” floor of tile made from dolomite with no volatile organic compound emissions and meeting green building code standards.
We were very pleased with the work of Chris Erdossy and J.P. Jay Associates in designing and installing the library components, including moving our existing shelving and integrating it into the new library. We now have all our archival material, journals/periodicals and books cataloged and shelved in the new library. A researcher has used the library several times already, and meetings are being held in the conference room part of the library. In addition, retired Cedar Crest College librarian Barbara Bollinger has volunteered to be our librarian, so we now have professional help to manage our collection.
Once again, thank you for your very generous grant and your very good advice on the design. With your support and advice and J.P. Jay’s assistance, we have created a beautiful and very functional library and conference room that will be a great asset for many years to come.
Yours in Conservation,
Dan R. Kunkle
